PROSPERITY CAKES ON SALE

On the first day and fifteenth day of the lunar month, the Chinese of Taoist and Buddhist faiths would make offerings to the deities.  One of the popular items used is the prosperity cake or Fatt Koe.  It is called thus because the cake would break open at the top after steaming.  In Chinese the 'breaking open' is called Fatt which is a homophone to the word 'to prosper'.
These Fatt Koe or Prosperity cakes are sold at 40 sen each
These type of cakes are a bit more expensive at 60 sen each.
