It may sound peculiar that the roof of a house has an effect on its Feng Shui. A quick look at any surviving historical building in China will reveal that the roof is a very important consideration during its construction stage. The roof designs of these buildings may vary in shape and details, but they are all proportionate to the size of the building. In Feng Shui, the roof of the house is akin to the hat we wear on our head. We cannot wear one that is either to small or too big our head. The same principle applies to the roof of the house, and although we may want to adorn hats of all artistic designs as a fashion statement, we cannot do the same for the roof if we want to enhance the Feng Shui of the house. |

The rule of thumb for the roofs of houses is that they must be well-balanced in shape and size, and preferably have its highest point in the middle of its design.
