TOTALLY IN AWE OF GIANT KUAN YIN STATUE

After reading about the magnificent statue of the Goddess of Kuan Yin in Penang I had wanted to go and see Her for myself.  However, I could not find the time somehow to execute my plans.  That is until yesterday.
I told myself that since I was in Penang I had to go to Air Hitam to fulfil one of my dreams.  But I had a problem ... I did not know my way around Penang and I did not want to get lost again like I did when I first reached the island.  Finally I decided to go by Taxi after my course ended.
Actually one can go up to the top to view the statue but then my taxi driver advised me to start from the bottom of the temple and walk up.  This way I would be able to take in more.
It took me less than 20 minutes to go up.  This is inclusive of the cable car ride up.  One needs to pay RM4 for a round trip.  The sight of the Serene Goddess took my breath away and I stood there right in front of the statue in great awe.  Imagine, the puny humans next to the gigantic robots in Transformers and you will get an idea how awe inspiring a situation I had.  It was worth every sen of the RM50 which I paid the taxi man for taking me to the site and back to the hotel again.

INFO ABOUT THE STATUE AND PAVILION
The Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) statue at Kek Lok Si Temple in Air Itam is a major tourist attraction for the island.  The towering bronze statue which was completed in 2002 is sheltered by a pavilion which is 82.7 metres in height which is something like a 20 storey high building.  Yeah!  That tall.  The statue of the Goddess is 30.2 metres.
