MY PASSIONS, MY HAPPINESS

One of my blog friends, Mr Ding, commented that I wrote a lot on Feng Shui and Herbs.  That was why he'd only visit my blog once in a while to check on it and not everyday.   Hmm ... I told him  that besides the two passions of mine, I cover quite a wide range of topics as I have quite a number of passions that make me happy.  It is just that I happen to blog a lot about Feng Shui and Herbs.  Hey, I have quite a number of posts on food, Korean dramas, the Taoist religion, my friends, my students and the Malaysian way of life too.
So, I do hope that he and my other blog friends will visit my blog more frequently.
For this post, I am again going on about herbal plants that I saw at the Farmer's Market.  I'd like to share their names with you.  I am sure that many of you have seen these plants but couldn't put a name to them.  Well, you'd get acquainted with them here.

 Madastone
 Oleander
 Basil
 Two types of Euphorbia
 Sedap Malam (Muraya)

 Calathea Makoyana

  1. Hi Miss Cheah, if you had not pointed it out, I wouldn't have known that a number of those ornamental plants are actual herbs! Thank you. With our sedentary lifestyle and chemical-laden food, eating herbs is increasingly becoming a necessity to detoxify ourselves and remain healthy. It would be interesting if you can elaborate on the health benefits of the herbs mentioned in your blog post. Great blog! Very informative.

  2. Hi,
I think I need to give some clarification to what I mean by herbs.
There are actually 3 definitions but then I am usually referring to the first two.

Here is the definition for herbs.

    (i) A plant whose stem does not produce woody, persistent tissue and generally dies back at the end of each growing season.
(ii) Any of various often aromatic plants used especially in medicine or as seasoning.
    (iii) Slang Marijuana.

So not all herbal plants that I am blogging about are edible. Some are used in aromatics and while some that are used as medicine are only applied onto the skin.
A few of the ornamental plants that I referred to belong to the first category based on scientific definition.
Thanks for the interest and keep visiting.
