MOUNTAIN LOTUS ROOT 山蓮藕


The man in the above picture is selling a Chinese herb called San Lin Ngau (shān lián ǒu in Mandarin)  山蓮藕 or Mountain Lotus Root.  According to him, it is good for diabetes, for detoxifying the blood and other illnesses.  I saw a few ladies buying the herb from him.  The fresh ones are sold at RM12 per kilo.  He also sells the dried ones as well.  One can boil the slices of Mountain Lotus Root with Dried Honey Dates and drink as a herbal drink.
