MAKING SURE THE RICE POT IS FULL TO WELCOME THE NEW YEAR

One practice by the Chinese is that one must make sure that the rice pot is filled to the brim on the eve of the lunar new year.  The Chinese believe that one should welcome the new year with a full pot of rice to ensure that the coming year would also be one where one would have food aplenty.
Me?  I am very, very Kiasu (afraid to lose out) and made sure that I bought a new packet of rice to fill my rice pot.  Since my friends and family say that I eat like a horse, I must make sure that I have plenty to eat for the coming year and many more years to come.
