I love going to the market during the run-up to Chinese New Year as there are so many festive things to see and buy. These lanterns that were on sale were made from red packets or Hong Bao (angpow in Hokkien). It is not too expensive. One pair of lanterns in the above photos was selling for RM18. Think of all the hard work and time needed to complete the artwork. Definitely worth it. Did I buy it? Nope. I don't fancy putting them up. Furthermore, the colour red is taboo for my east facing house come February 4th.
