PROSPERITY CAKES

The Chinese Prosperity Cakes or Fatt Kuo is a must-have during festivals.  This type of cakes are used as offerings to the deities.  The common ones are the cupcake types which open up at the top. The cake has to open out like a flower or crack open at the top after steaming as this is very important.   A Fatt Kuo that does not "bloom" loses its auspicious meaning.  The Chinese word "opening out" is Fatt which is synonymous with "to prosper".  Ah Ha!  That is the connection here.  See!
