NO BLACK COLOURED CLOTHINGS FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR

I read in the newspapers a few weeks back about the price of cloth going up this month.  This would mean that the prices of clothings would also eventually go up.  With Chinese New Year less than 2 months away, I decided to go and buy my new clothes earlier so that they would not be too costly later on. 
I bought the black coloured dress with white floral motifs in the pictures above.  However, I won't be wearing it for the Chinese New Year.  I will get an earful from my mum and aunt if I do so as it is not auspicious to wear black on the first few days of the new year.  Actually I bought it because I liked it and my mum said I could wear it for Christmas.
