It has been many, many years since I last saw flower basket lanterns being sold at the shops for the Mid Autumn Festival. I have been very sad at seeing the traditional lanterns being overtaken in popularity by those of cartoon figures in recent times. How happy I was yesterday afternoon when I saw this type of lantern being sold in a paraphernalia shop in Ipoh. Aren't they beautiful? A bit of modification has been done with the addition of the furry lining and the flowers are now made of plastic instead of crepe paper but the basic structure and shape are the same. Each lantern sells for RM18.00.
Hmm ... shall I get myself one for old times sake?
