LIGHTING THE STOVE

After I placed the pail of water under a fan in the hall, Sharveen and I got busy to get a charcoal fire going for the stove. This is a must for a Chinese moving house ceremony. The act of lighting up the stove and boiling water would symbolise cooking the first meal in the house.
I am embarassed to say that I did not really know how to light a charcoal fire and even Sharveen was struggling. However, he did his best to help his teacher.
My sifu had told me to boil a sweet drink and later serve it to everyone who came. However, I made do with Chinese tea.
