The two Pedilanthus or Xiao Niao plants that I bought for my mum a few months ago are practically blooming with little bird-like flowers. If according to Chinese beliefs, such plants which are considered auspicious are growing well and filled with blooms then it is a sign that good fortune will be visiting the owner of the house. So far my mum has not even won any money in a game of chance yet.
