COCONUT SAMBAL


Sambal kelapa or coconut sambal

This spicy coconut relish goes well with ulam or can just be eaten with rice.  It helps to work up the gastric juices for a better appetite.  Want to try making it?  Then follow the recipe below:

Coconut Sambal

Ingredients

250 grams grated coconut
12 red chillies
1 tsp shrimp paste
1 shallot
2 cloves garlic
1 tbsp palmsugar (gula jawa)
salt to taste

Method
Ground all ingredients into a paste. Heat a wok or frying pan and fry the paste until golden brown and dry.  The sambal kelapa is ready to be served.  It's easy, isn't it?
