TRADITIONAL MALAY PULUT KUNING ON TIERS

Here is the gimmick for the launching ceremony of the Malay Language Week in my school.  In Malaysia, the Pulut Kuning  or Yellow Glutinous Rice is served during occasions like weddings, birthdays and thanksgivings. It is usually eaten with curry chicken or rendang. The Peranakan Chinese refer to it as Nasi Kunyit.

For Malay weddings, the bride and groom would feed each other Pulut Kuning to symbolise that the groom is capable of providing for the bride, and the bride is capable of preparing the provisions.  Soooo romantic, isn't it?
In the case of the Chinese, the Nasi Kunyit would be given to friends and relatived to celebrate the full moon of a baby.  It is given along with chicken curry, red dyed eggs and ang ku.
