GIANT ZONG ZI FOR DOUBLE FIVE FESTIVAL

The Double Five Festival has come and gone for the Tiger Year.  Here in Malaysia, we would normally celebrate by eating Zong Zi.  It is not too grand a festival and there is no public holiday.  Unlike in China, where the Double Five Festival or Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated with much fanfare.  There were a few stores which made giant zong zis to attract customers.  The picture above was at a food store in Beijing's Heping West Street.  The filling for the 2 metre tall zong zi contained 150 kilos of glutinouous rice and 50 kilos of red dates.
