LI NA AND LINA

The little girl in the picture above share the same name with me.  Both of us are called Lina.  However, my name is spelt Li Na while hers is Lina.  My parents named me after an oceanliner they saw during their honeymoon.  The name of the oceanliner was Selina.  My dad shortened it to Li Na to make it sound more Chinese.  Since my dad meant it to be a Chinese name, then the meaning of my name in Chinese is beautiful and graceful.  In the case of my young friend, her name Lina is derived from Arabic and it means palm tree.
