USING CABBAGES AS OFFERING TO ANCESTORS

When I was at the Paradise Memorial Park to pay respect to my late father, I noticed that one family had placed three uncooked cabbages as offerings for their ancestors.  At first my mum and I wondered what was the significance of the cabbages and then we sort of figured it out.  The Chinese word for cabbage is Pao Choy which sounds like Guaranteed Luck in Cantonese.  Next year, I am going to bring three cabbages as offerings to my dad too.  Heh! Heh! Heh!
