IPOH TOURIST ATTRACTION: PERAK CAVES

On 11 February 2009, I read about the collapse of a limestone outcrop at the Perak Cave Temple.
In the incident, two visitors were injured and a security guard died at the temple in Kampung Tawas.
As a result of the rockfall which destroyed the staircase that leads to the peak of the limestone hill., the state government ordered the Perak Cave Temple management to seal off the the area

The temple was reopened again and visitors are again able to admire the lovely cave paintings and calligraphy. This temple houses more than 40 statues of Buddhas.  On the main altar is a giant sitting Buddha and beyond it there is a passage which leads into the interior of the cave.

I stopped by to visit the temple with my mum and aunt while we were on route to Jalan Kuala Kangsar to buy a replacement ceramic fist for my mum's water feature which was accidentally broken.  I have this habit of visiting religious places whenever I happen to see one and this one was no exception.
