I found out about the Gopeng Kuan Yin Temple when I was at the Gopeng Museum. As after visiting the museum, I made my way to this temple which is believed to be over 137 years old. According to records, the temple was built at a nearby mining village first before it was moved to its present location in 1870 after a fire broke out in the old temple.
The present temple was renovated in 2000.
I have a great affinity with temples and whenever I see one, I would make it a point to enter the place of worship to show my respect to the Buddhas and the Taoist Deities there. My godmother once told me that it is good to visit as many temples as I could as the visit helps me to make a connection with the divine beings and at the same time any yin energy would also be left behind after my visit to the temple.
