PRAYING TO TAI SUI ON RENRI DAY 人日

According to Taoist belief, individuals whose Chinese Zodiacs conflict or clash with the Tai Sui of the year are advised to go through a prayer session with a Taoist Priest at a temple to ask for blessing in obtaining Peace and Good Fortune from the Deity in Charge throughout the year.   It is said that one can start praying to Tai Sui beginning from the 4th day of the 1st Lunar month.  However, one needs to check with the T'ung Shu or Chinese almanac to choose an auspicious date as not every day is suitable.
Usually, Renri day or the 7th day of the 1st Lunar month would be a most suitable date to carry out this ritual.  My mum, aunt and I went to the Paloh Old Temple in Old Town to pray to Tai Sui.

Prayer paraphernalia for those who conflict with Tai Sui
Prayer paraphernalia for those who do not conflict with Tai Sui is not as many as those who are in conflict.  The joss-sticks and candles are also included but my mum had already lit the candles and joss-sticks.  I paid RM9.00 for the set. Both my mum and I share one set since we are one family.  Those in conflict pay RM17 for a set.
A bottle of oil, fruits and Fatt Koe (cake) are offered to Tai Sui

Devotees kneeling down to pray to Tai Sui while a temple personnel helps to read out their details and also utter auspicious words.  Afterwards, a red packet containing money will be given to the person for his or help.  The prayer paraphernalia will be burnt as offering after this ceremony is conducted.
