I attended a Hari Raya Aidil Fitri gathering at the house of one of the cleaners in my school. I went with two of my students at around 5.00 p.m. after school had ended for the day. It was actually raining when we got out from the library and by the time we were heading towards Cik Mah's house, the heavy rain turned into a downpour with thunder and lightning to boot. When we reached the place, we saw that they were still cooking some of the food and were told that everything would be ready by about 6.00 p.m. Initially, I informed Cik Mah that the boys and I could not stay as their parents were expecting them back by 6.00 p.m. but the hostess insisted that we eat the food that was already cooked since we had taken the trouble to go there. Believe me, it was worth our while as the three of us were in agreement that the Lontong and Curry Noodles were the best that we have tasted so far. Too bad that we did not get to try the other types of food that they were preparing.
This goes to show that in times of adversity, if we strive and persevere, good things will come our way. Like in the case of my two boys and I, we were really glad that we decided to stay and enjoy the delicious food cooked by the eldest daughter of our host.
