My mum boils the roots of the groundnut plant once a week. The concoction is for my nephew, Benjamin to drink. She says that by taking this concoction, my nephew will get to grow taller. It seems that many Chinese mums will start boiling the roots of the plant with chicken once their sons reach puberty or once their voice start to change. Actually, my mum and two aunts swear by its effectiveness. Aunt May's son who drank it is now about 178 cm (about 5 feet 10 inches). My cousin, Simon, is also around that height. My nephew, Jeremy who is only 18 this year is about 180 cm (about 5 feet 10 inches). Personally, I am not too convinced of its effectiveness as I attribute it to genetics but my elders are adamant that it was the herbs that made them grow so tall. By the way, I did not drink the stuff as it is only meant for boys.
