I brought my three golden girls to the Little India in Ipoh Old Town this morning. They said that they wanted to have a feel of the festivities of Deepavali. In Hokkien, this is known as Lau Juet or partaking in a happy occasion (my my translated this for me since she is a Hokkien).
My Aunt May says that if we join in such happy occasions, we would also be able to benefit from the positive energy of the occasion.
To me, I am a Malaysian and celebrating Deepavali along with my Hindu colleagues, students and friends has become a habit.
