BAI HU OR WHITE TIGER

I blogged about praying to the White Tiger a few posts ago. What is this White Tiger. In Chinese, the White Tiger God is known as Bai Hu or the Hu Jian Jun. In ancient China, the tiger was a most feared animal as it terrorised the humans. The Chinese would offer prayers to the Earth God to protect them from the Bai Hu so that they would have peaceful lives. It is a belief among the Taoists that praying to the White Tiger will make their year a peaceful one and also malefactors or troublesome people would be kept at bay.
To pray to the White Tiger, one must have a special offering set and also place a piece of pork into the White Tiger's mouth. This symbolises feeding it as an exchange for ones safety.
