We don't usually see sugar canes on sale at Giant hypermarket unless if it is for a special occasion. By this I mean the forthcoming celebration on the 9th day of the lunar New Year. In Hokkien it is called Pai Tee Kong. Literally translated it means praying to the Jade Emperor.
