TAOISTS RITUALS FOR A SAFE AND SMOOTH YEAR

At the start of a new year, Taoists would go to the temples to perform several rituals to ensure a safe and smooth year ahead.  They pray to Tai Sui, the white tiger deity, the heavenly dog and light oil lamps. If their Bazi clashes with the year, then they may have the temple sifu to help them perform rituals to get rid of the obstacles ahead.
On Saturday, I went with Lai Yoong to the Paloh Old Temple to perform the rituals.  We reached the place at around 10.50 a.m.  There were already many people there and we had to wait quite a while for our turns.  We finally managed to get things done at 12.15 p.m.  The day was very hot and coupled with the smoke and heat of the temple, I ended up with migraine.  Mind you, the temperature in Ipoh on that day was as high as 38 degrees Celcius.
