My nephews liking Junior the kitten is already a foregone conclusion as both love cats. Both my Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Linda were also enamoured with the little fella. Anyway, they are all animal lovers. My uncle feeds the strays in his housing area every day.
In Buddhism, the notion of merit engenders a gentle non-violent attitude towards living creatures. Kindness to animals is a source of merit, and such merit is needed for human beings to improve their lot in the cycle of births and to approach the final goal of Nirvana.
