Nowadays they have come up with Pelikat Pants. This type of Thai fishermanpants are actually the brainchild of Malaysian celebrity, Afdlin Shauki. He got the idea of coming up with the pants when he was in Bangkok at the end of 2012 and it struck him that besides being comfortable and versatile, the colourful trousers were also practical and marketable. The Pelikat pants are almost like a sarong, which can be worn casually and have an adjustable waistband.
The Pelikat pants that have become somewhat of a phenomenon came about by accident when Afdlin decided to make a pair of pants using kain pelikat. My wife, Christina, figured out how to use the material for the design that he wanted.
