During the third season of Sherlock, the audience were introduced to Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes' parents. During the third and final episode of Season 3, we get to see the Holmes boys celebrating Christimas with their father and mother at their country home. Yeah. It was also revealed that their mum is a Mathematical genious. Ah ha! Now we know who the boys got their smarts from.
Actually three of the actors in the picture are really a family. The parents of Sherlock are the real-life parents of Benedict Cumberbatch. His mum and dad, Vanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch are actors in their own right. Mark Gatiss who plays Mycroft Holmes is co-creator and writer of the Sherlock series.
I am terribly sad that season 3 has ended and now have to wait until God knows when before I get to watch season 4.
Benedict Cumberbatch's parents when they were young. If you ask me, he has a combination of his parents' looks. No wonder he is such a good actor. Acting runs in his blood.
