May 13 is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Vishnu's sixth incarnation i.e. Lord Parshurama. Also known as Akha Teej, it is jointly a Hindu as well as Jain festival. The meaning of the word Akshaya is "infinite, that which never recede". It is believed that buying gold in Akshaya Tritiya invokes prosperity.
