PALONG TIN MUSEUM IN IPOH

A HALF-A-CENTURY-OLD palong is now on display at the Kinta Riverside Walk. This is part of efforts to bring life back to the once polluted Kinta River. Now this palong is said to be the first of its kind in Malaysia.
For those of you who haven't a clue what a palong is then let me enlighten you on it. The palong is the most important structure in a tin mine because it is where the tin ore is saved.  The efficiency of the ore-recovery process depends on its design. It is essentially a big wooden sluice box and the early palong had single or twin lanes.  There is also a mining museum-cum-workshop next to this palong.
