I wish to share this story with you here.
Got your back, bro! Student carries disabled friend around
It warms the cockles of the heart. Good samaritan Bi Mingzhe carried his disabled classmate to school and back for over eight years. Later, the 20-year-old even gave up his Bachelor's degree to accompany Wang Li to vocational school.
It all began with a promise Bi made to Wang's parents after sending the neuromuscular disorder patient home for the first time in 2004. "From now on, I'll carry him to school and send him back," he said.
No one took him seriously, but Bi proved them wrong. "I did think of quitting just two months after. It was very tiring and I felt that I had no free time. I watched other students playing in the field during recess, but I had to carry Wang to the toilet or take him for a walk, in order for him to get some fresh air," he said.
Still, the big-hearted Bi kept his promise.
Their friendship began at a junior high school in Linxiang, Hunan, when Bi saw Wang still sitting at his desk after school. He was waiting for his dad to pick him up but was late.
Friends forever
Bi carried his classmate on his back and sent him back home. He was thanked by Wang's family. Overwhelmed by their gratitude, the then-12-year-old promised to take care of him.
Since then, Bi has woken up at 5:30AM daily, walked to Wang's house and carried him back and forth to their school about 1.5km away. The two eventually became best friends.
After high school Bi managed to get into the uni, but Wang's poor performance in his 2010 National College Entrance Examination was only good enough to earn him a place at a vocational college, called the Insurance Professional College.
Bi also enrolled in the same college, so that he could continue to ''be Wang's legs''. He only told Wang about his missed university opportunity later.
At college, Bi studies insurance underwriting and claims while Wang studies customer service. Although they aren't in the same class, they are in the same hostel room. "During school, his classmates take turns to take care of him," said Bi, adding his burden has been lessened as Wang has a wheelchair now.
Bi told Global Times that he would teach at the Insurance Professional College after graduation, should Wang decide to become a tutor there as well.
But for Wang, he said he would understand if Bi wanted to pursue his own career one day. "Bi may leave to follow his own life plan, but it won't affect our relationship. I understand him," he added.

Bi was honoured as the Youth Of Hunan Province, and Wang was declared an excellent member of the Communist Youth League Of China.
