Chief Consultant of Joey Yap Consulting Group and founder of the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics, Joey Yap.KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak apparently has better stars aligned in 2013 compared to Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

This was the analysis made by popular feng shui consultant Joey Yap in his reading of the traditional Chinese astrology chart on what the year 2013 has in store.

The 33-year-old consultant said Anwar would have had better luck if the elections were held last year, as he had better stars then.

"The analysis is based on a 70 percent reading as I was never made known to Najib's birth hour. But overall, I can say the positive stars are on his side in the year of the Water Snake.

"Anwar, on the other hand, had a better outlook last year. So he has lost his advantage there. Nevertheless, both will do well this year," he told Malaysian Digest when met at his office Wednesday.

Yap, however, said it was hard to predict when the 13th General Election (GE13) would happen as it depends on the people, and predictions made have been changing.

“The last time I calculated it, it was thought to be in November, but that didn’t happen. If it would be my guess, I’d say the earliest the election could happen would be sometime in the first week of March.

"But if I were to say when's the best time for it to happen based on the charts, I would say pick a date specifically in February. This again depends on who wants to win, of course," he said.

Yap said many had approached him for GE13 predictions and who will come out on top, but each time, he would simply answer: “The better man wins.”

"This all depends on the people. But what I’m confident of is that it is will be a good year for both side of the divide and whichever party wins, they will do well," he said.

Pix: SM AminThe founder of Master Academy of Chinese Metaphysics said his predictions were not based on merely superstitious beliefs but revolves around reading the energy of the stars and how it affects human reaction.

He said classical feng shui acts as a tool to measure metaphysical elements that cannot be measured by science.

"There are a lot of things that science does not have the tool to measure. Science can't measure courage, feelings and emotions. This is where classical feng shui comes in. We interpret the energy chart as the energy affects the people.

"Feng shui is not all superstitions. People just don't accept they are affected by the stars," he explained.

As 2013 will be the Year of the Water Snake, based on patterns in previous Snake years, Yap gave an overall outlook of the year – from economical issue right up to natural disasters.

Invest in the right places

When interpreting whether a year is good or bad, Yap said a context of reference would be looked into to determine the state of the year referred to.

When it comes to money, he said many people assume that when there is money, it would be a good year – but that is not the case for 2013.

"What's interesting for 2013 is, there will be a lot of money but you can't use it. And this is the difference between 2013 and 2012.

"Last year, people generally had money problems. But in 2013, the wealth element is very strong due to the wood element, which means it is the 'in' season for wealth.

"The 'self' element, however, is weak, therefore people can’t use the money they have. For example, banks may print more money but it can't be used as it has to be utilized to pay debts," he said.

In terms of overall global economic growth, Yap said 2013 is in favor with Asian countries such as China, Australia and those in the South East Asia whereas European countries and the United States will be experiencing some financial crisis.

Yap showing the world map chart on how different stars are affecting different parts of the world economically."Wood and fire elements are prime elements of 2013. Referring to the world map chart in accordance to the elements, Asian countries are aligned with wood and fire. Western countries, on the other hand, are in the earth element, which is the weak element of 2013 when we talk about finance.

"Basically, if you want to venture into investment, I would advise you to invest in Asian countries and not America or Europe," he said.

Yap also said 2013 will be the year of technological breakthrough in Asian countries.

"Will there will be another 'Gangnam Style' this year? I wouldn't know. But it is the year for IT development, such as growth for the Asian-made Samsung, but Apple would not do so good," he said.

On business ventures, Yap classified it into three categories – properties, shares and business.

"With the earth element being weak in 2013, it is not advisable to invest in properties or shares as it is more external. Business investment, however, would be a better option as it requires personal skills, interest and perseverance.

"People who have the Monkey, Rooster, or Tiger stars in either of their birth hour, day, month, or year, would benefit from personal business investments as these are the most fortunate stars of the year,” he said.

Rise in social chaos?

Other social-related matters noted by Yap for 2013 were increased interest in supernatural things, such as UFOs; an increase in abortion as people will be doing things out of passion and not of the decision they make, and a rise in accidents.

"The main elements this year are water and fire. Water basically puts out fire, therefore people tend to be more reckless and this can be seen in the previous Snake year in 2001.

"It does not necessarily mean an increase in death but people are just careless. More accidents, more speeding tickets and such.

"For example, back in 2001, the world was shaken by the September 11 terror. Such terror will be seen more in Middle Eastern countries, meaning more wars ahead and massive deaths," he said.

With water and fire elements being the prime elements, Yap said more natural disasters involving water, such as floods, hurricanes and fire would be expected.

"We can already see this happening here in the Malaysia, where water element in the north has affected the rise in floods in east coast states. And recently, Australia experiences a heat wave which is affected by the fire element in the south.

"All these depend on where the stars are moving and which countries are affected with which stars," he said.

Nevertheless, despite the increasing wars, natural disasters and financial crises, Yap said 2013 will be better than the previous year in an overall outlook.
