A GROWING BOY

Each time I see Amir, he seems to have grown a few inches taller.  At eight years of age, he is much taller than his peers.  His dad told me he took after his maternal uncle who is about 6 feet 3 inches tall. The last time I saw him, he told me that someone stole the slippers that I bought for him for Hari Raya Puasa and was wearing an old pair of sandals that were too small for his feet.  As his father was hospitalised for asthma at that time, I went and bought him a pair of slippers.
Yesterday during lunch time I had gone to visit him at his baby-sitter's house as I hadn't seen him for a month.  I bought him another two pairs of slippers which were of a bigger size as I guessed that after two months his feet would have grown bigger.  True enough when I brought him the slippers, they fit him nicely.  My friends who have children tell me that they keep buying shoes and clothes for them as they keep growing ever so often.  They also tell me that they don't buy expensive ones as these will only be worn for a few months before they need to be replaced.
