ADDING THE CHARACTER FATT TO ADDRESSES

The Chinese have a morbid fear of the number 4 as it sounds like death in the language.  What some people do if the addresses of their homes or business premises happen to have the number 4 is to add the word Fatt or Prosper after the digit. This way it would mean 'keeping prospering'.
In the picture below, you can see the shop adjacent to the one with the number 4.  The number of the lot is 3 which is auspicious as it sounds like 'living'.  The owners have also added a Fatt or Prosper character to it.  In Chinese adding the Fatt would make it more auspicious as it would mean the business would go on thriving and prospering.  By the way, the shop next to number 3 is number 2. This shop also has the character Fatt added to it.  In Chinese the number 2 sounds like easy.  So, Yee Fatt would mean "Easy to Prosper".
