PICKING OF BONES AND INTERNMENT INTO NICHE

My mum's cremation took about two hours and after that my sisters, aunt, -in-law, nephews, niece and close friends went back to the place to pick transfer the bones into the urn using large chopsticks. Earlier, a worker at the crematorium had already picked the bones out and laid them out on a metallic tray. He had placed the bone fragments into the various parts of the body, skull, feet, hands, et cetera. We all took turns to pick the bones with the chopsticks. We were told to pick the bones of the feet first and the bones of the head last. This is to ensure that the deceased is not upside down in the urn.

After the bones were placed into the urn, my nephew Jeremy carried it to the columbarium where it would be placed together in the niche with my dad's urn.  In the picture above, the worker at Paradise Memorial Park is sealing the cover of the urn before the nun starts to conduct the prayers.
Below is the ceremony to place the urn into the niche together with that of my dad's.
