Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau had distributed copies of his album containing Buddhist teachings for free in order to accumulate good karma for his daughter.

The devout Buddhist, who became a father on May 9, did away with the traditional pig trotters as part of the customary vinegar and ginger treats for friends and family, opting to order from a vegetarian company and sending only sweet potato, gluten and eggs. He had also made a donation to the Taiwan-Kaohsiung Fo Guang Shan monastery to pray for his family's well-being.

The 50-year-old had also decided to forgo baby shower for fear that it would be inconvenient for his family should he expose the newborn to the public. Instead, the singer held a gathering with his fans to share his joy.

The album, which contains Buddhist teachings in Cantonese recited by Andy, was released in August 1998 under the singer's monastic title "Hui Guo". Andy reportedly reprinted copies of this album to mark his daughter's first month.
