Wonder entrance: The gateway in Kampung Baru Jeram built in 1998 is said to have spurred the birth of twins in the village.
The gateway pictured above is the entry way to a village called Kampung Baru Jeram. It was built about 13 years ago and miraculously after it was erected 13 sets of twins have been born there. What is interesting is that the villagers attribute their two-fold blessing to the good Feng Shui brought about by the gateway.

THE birth of twins is a common occurrence in Kampar’s Kampung Baru Jeram.
Over the last 13 years, the village has produced nearly 50 pairs of twins and villagers attributed the miracle to the gateway at the entrance of the new village.
Chai Kow, the contractor in charge of the project, said a feng shuimaster had predicted that the gateway would spur the birth of twins because it faced the “Mount Elephant”.
He said they did not want to encourage superstition but an incident had cautioned them to be better safe than sorry.
Village committee secretary Wong Muk Ching said the village committee once built a tiny metal gateway at the entrance without consulting a feng shui master.
“Mysteriously, about 20 elderly people passed away in just one month or so in 1995,” he said, adding that they demolished it shortly after.
With an end to the misfortune, the village had been blessed with at least two to three pairs of newborn twins annually ever since the installation of the new gateway in 1998.
Village chief Lam Sing Ping said the gateway was built at the only entrance used by the 500 villagers and 200 people from nearby residential areas.
He told The Star that a family in Kampung Baru Jeram was recently blessed with a second pair of twins – Chai Yoong Long and Chai Yoong Foo, both seven months old, to the family.
“We are very happy to welcome the second set of twins into the Chai family,” said grandmother Teo Ah Kam, adding that the first twins in the family was their granduncles.
Teo, 70, identified Yoong Long, the older twin who was born three minutes earlier, from a birthmark on his right ear and Yoong Foo from one on his right arm.
