The school cleaners discovered a nest with baby birds and showed it to me. That got me wondering ... what do you call a baby bird? I searched the Internet and found the answer.
In general young birds (without reference to their species) can be referred to as:
fledglings (as they start to get feather)
hatchlings (when just out of the egg)
nestlings (while the live in the nest)

So the baby birds above are nestlings.
