I have a soft spot for my godson Amir. I always tell him that I'm his Fairy Godmother and that I'd protect him from harm. His mummy who had SLE (Systemic lupus erythematosus) passed away when he was about two years old and so he never really got to know a mother's love. To make matters worse, he was a victim of child abuse. After his mother died, his dad fell in love with another girl. Wanting to establish more rapport with his new girlfriend and her family, he entrusted his child to them to babysit. He actually paid them good money to look after his son while he was at work. In the meantime, he showered his beautiful girlfriend with gifts and thought that she would be a good mother to his child.
Amir was under the care of his girlfriend and her family for about 3 to 4 years. Unbeknown to him, little Amir went through hell in the hands of the girl and her family. Still in his diapers, Amir was scolded, beaten and even had needles poked into his chest. That was why he was always sickly and had to be hospitalised. When Amir's papa found out about the abuse from the neighbours, he asked his girlfriend "why". She said that Amir reminded her of his mum and she tortured him out of jealousy. Wah! What type of human being can do that to a child?
So my motherly instincts automatically want to protect him and give him as much love as I possibly could. I am sure that after reading about Amir's traumatic experience many ladies out there would shed a tear or two and wish that they too could give him a motherly hug.
p/s: For your information, Amir does not look too much like his mum. As a matter I should know as she was a student in my school.
