Di Chu Kung (地主公) or The Landlord Deity (地主神Dizhu Shen) is worshipped in some Taoist Homes. The Landlord Deity is given the duty of blessing the family members with wealth, prosperity and protection of the property where he exists.
The Taoists would usually set up a house shrine with an engraved tablet to worship this deity. Since it is believed that the Landlord Deity has the power to bequeath wealth to the occupants of the property that he protects, the Taoists would make offerings of joss-sticks, candles, fruits and tea. Sometimes, they would also burn paper offerings and other auspicious items with the hope that this deity would shower them with wealth luck and also make it easy for them to earn a living.
I had mentioned in a previous post that the husband of my beautician had placed a pair of origami pineapples at their home shrine for Di Chu Kung for wealth luck, like the ones shown in the picture above.
I gave Clarice and her husband another piece of advice to get wealth luck. I told her that if one has set up a shrine for the Landlord Deity, then he or she must make sure that the shrine is kept clean and neat all the time. If the Landlord is living comfortably, he would surely be satisfied and would work hard to ensure that lots of wealth luck enters the house.
