GOODBYE TO A COLLEAGUE

One of the library teachers in my school has gotten a transfer to another vocational school in Seri Iskandar.  Yesterday was his last day in school and he came to see me to sign some documents for the handing over of duties.  Earlier in the morning, he had treated all the teachers and staff to breakfast at the canteen.
The other library teachers, staff and I had prepared a farewell gathering for him.  Unfortunately, I could not attend the gathering at the last minute as I received news that my sister who was looking after my sick mother met with an accident.  As a result, I had to go back to Ipoh before the farewell gathering at noon.
The way of the world is certainly unpredictable, isn't it?  Things do not always go as we have planned.  Anyway, my other colleagues took over the handling of the ceremony and I managed to go back to Ipoh and bring my mum and aunt back to Sitiawan.
