LOTUS INCENSE

Once in a while I would perform a smoke cleansing ceremony using lotus scented incense.  Nowadays, they come in the shape of gold nuggets.  Besides, lotus scented incense, there is also pomelo scented ones.  

What I do is just light the lotus scented incense and walk around the house with it making sure that the smoke attaches itself to any negative energy that might be lingering in my home.  The theory behind the smoke cleansing ritual is that the smoke will draw the energy to it and release it into another space to be regenerated.
The American Indians carry out a similar ceremony in which they term as smudging.  Most of the time the herb sage is used to drive evil spirits away.
