The sagun that my colleagues made are the traditional type complete with the casings which were made from newspapers and decorated with strips of crepe paper. Nowadays, like everything else, the making and packaging of the sagun has been commercialised. I spotted sagun which were sold in packets of 10 at the market. Even the wrapping is printed. Each pack sells for RM2.00 which means one stick costs 20 sen each. The sagun inside is powdery which means all the ingredients have been blended. The ones made by Kamariah and Roslina were not so fine as they made it the traditional way without the blender.
