Last week I prepared a 5 element Flower Bath for a few of my friends to uplift their energy levels. They had a great time washing their faces, feet and hands with the water that I had prepared. Anyway, I will write more about that in another post this week.
What I want to blog about today is the 5 Element Soup which was formulated by Japanese cytologist, Dr.Tateishi Kazu (1934-2001). His formulation which was confined to 5 vegetables was said to be able to improve human health and well being and even cure certain dreaded diseases like cancer.
This soup is called 5 Element Vegetable soup as it is made from five different vegetables. In Feng Shui, the five elements are made up of fire, earth, metal, water and wood. Besides Feng Shui, the 5 element theory also applies to the basics of human health. The soup/broth is said to help boost ones energy level and does wonders for the skin.
The five vegetables used for the soup are:
RADISH (白萝卜white, relates to metal element)
RADISH LEAVES (白萝卜叶 green, relates to wood element.)
CARROT (胡萝卜red, relates to fire element)
BURDOCK ROOT (Aretium Lappa L) (牛蒡 yellow, relates to earth element.)
CHINESE MUSHROOM (香菇 Lentinus edodes Sing.) (black, relates to water element).

Carrots |
Radish and leaves |
The soup from these five type of vegetables is very rich in minerals, vitamin A, B, C and calcium, it can repair damaged cells and detoxify your body, make you feel younger, and gain more vital energy.

1/4 radish leaf (白萝卜叶)
1/2 carrot (胡萝卜)
20g dry Burdock Root (Aretium Lappa L) (You can get it from Chinese herb shops.)
1 dry Chinese mushroom (香菇 Lentinus edodes Sing.)
Note:
Only cook in a stainless steel or glass pot.
Do not mix with any other ingredients to avoid interactions.
Use organic vegetables.
Don’t peel anything.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Fill a pot with three times the quantity of water as the vegetables.
- When it comes to a boil, reduce the flame and simmer for one hour.
- Strain and drink.
- Store the unconsumed broth in glass container and put it into a refrigerator.
- Finish the soup in two days.
The amount one needs depends on the condition. The more serious the condition, the more broth. It’s recommended to take the remedy two hours apart from your medications. Use remedy for a minimum of one month.
Some possible healing reactions:
1. If you take medications in a long term, healing reactions could be stronger.
2. Itchy skin or eczema.
3. People with eczema need to start with less soup/broth and increase the amount gradually to avoid strong healing reactions.
4. People who had head injuries before may develop headaches.
5. People may get temporary blurred vision or itchy eyes. Eyesight will get recovered in few days. If you wear glasses, try to reduce the prescription and use glasses less frequently.
