This is the front of my rented house in Sitiawan. This year I have not put up any decorations for Chinese New Year as the house is facing Southwest 2 where the dreaded 5 Yellow Star has taken residence for the year. My neighbours who don't give 2 hoots about Feng Shui have put up red banners, red lanterns and lots of lights. On the first few days of the new year, they have been burning a lot of fireworks and firing firecrackers. For scaridy cats like me who do believe in Feng Shui, there is this fear that putting up lots of red and making a ruckus would give strength to the Wu Wang or 5 Yellow Star. It is believed that in its wake, disaster and mayhem would run riot.
