My mum reminded me to buy gladiolus or sword lily to place on our main altar at home for the Chinese New Year. The gladiolus is considered to be auspicious because its flowers bloom from bottom to top and is named " bu bu gao sheng " which carried the meaing “step by step ever higher.” Having a few stalks of this symbolic flower will plant the roots of good fortune in ones home. That is why I bought 4 stalks. Hmm ... I think I should have bought 8 stalks insted. Anyway, my flowers that are placed in a vase on the house altar is blooming well.
