GIVE AND TAKE

My former student, Solihin, came to school to present me with some gifts from his mum for the Chinese New Year.  His mum, whom I fondly call Kak Ton, is one of the nicest and warmest ladies I know.  Ever since I started teaching her son in 2007, she has been volunteering to help during activities I have organised for the library and would give her full support each time.  Even now that Solihin is in college, she would still come and help me in school if I give her a call.  And each time, there is a festival, she would send me goodies.  I actually had anticipated her to send over something and I was right.  Anyway, I was prepared with New Year biscuits and Mandarin oranges to send back to her for it is customary to give something in return when we receive gifts during the Chinese Lunar New Year - the concept of give and take.
