CHRYSANTHEMUM TEA 菊花茶

Every Wednesday, my colleagues and librarians would set up a stall to sell herbal drinks as one of our resource centre activities.  One of the drinks that we prepare is Chrysanthemum tea.  We keep telling everyone that drinking this tea is good as it is a 'cooling herb'.

Here is a list of medicinal uses for Chrysanthemum tea:
  •  Aid in recovery from influenza and acne.
  •  Drinking Chrysanthemum tea can aid in the prevention of sore throat and promote the reduction of fever.
  • In Korea, it is well known for its medicinal use for making people more alert and is often used to waken themselves.
  • In western herbal medicine, Chrysanthemum tea is drunk and used as a compress to treat circulatory disorders such as varicose veins and atherosclerosis.
  • In traditional Chinese medicine, chrysanthemum tea is also used to treat the eyes, and is said to clear the liver and the eyes. It is also used to treat blurring, spots in front of the eyes, diminished vision, and dizziness.
  • Having a cup of Chrysanthemum Tea everyday is a good habit, it helps to clean your system.
For those who sit hours on end in front of the computer (like me), it would not hurt to drink chrysanthemum flower tea as it helps to ease eyestrain.   In China, chrysanthemum flower tea is believed to help the side effects of the low levels of radiation coming from your computer screen.
