STEPPING ON 'SMALL LITTLE PEOPLE"

On the first day of the Chinese New Year, there are some Chinese of the Taoist faith who would practise a certain ritual to rid themselves of troublemakers (or what is known as "little people"). What they do is to buy a new pair of clocks and place them by the bed. The moment they get up in the morning of the new year, they should put on the clogs and walk around the house. This clock, clock sound of the this wooden type of footwear is supposed to keep troublemakers, gossips and other unpleasant people at bay.
By the way, how do you like my new pair of clogs? I actually bought two, the other one has red flowers and red plastic cover.
